Privacy Policy

Assist With Music (“we”, “the app”) is an encyclopedia of musical styles and a workspace for planning music. The public encyclopedia can be browsed with no account. The planner requires an account. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account information — when you sign up we use Clerk for authentication, which stores your email address (and, if you use one, your name and profile image from your sign-in provider). We do not store your password.
- Your workspace data — the projects, ratings, notes, picks, and song/version data you create are stored in our database (Convex), keyed to your account.
- Basic technical data — standard server and hosting logs (e.g. IP address, browser type) from our host, Vercel, used for security and reliability.
How we use it
To provide and secure your account, store and display your workspace, and operate and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data.
Third-party services
We rely on Clerk (authentication), Convex (data storage), and Vercel (hosting). Each processes data under its own privacy terms. Public browsing does not require an account.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (via Clerk) and to remember preferences such as your theme. We do not use advertising trackers.
Support requests
Assist With Life operates the shared support desk. When you continue from our support page, the handoff identifies Assist With Music and may include a broad page area only when it is shown to you and you choose to include it. It does not send a raw page address, workspace content, secret, or authentication token. Assist With Life collects your account and issue description under its own support privacy terms. Requests may be classified with AI assistance for triage; AI does not automatically reply or change your product or account.
Your choices & rights
You can take a complete copy of your data, or delete your account and everything in it, at Settings → Your data. Both act immediately and neither needs you to ask anyone. The export gives you two files: a readable document and the same records as JSON. Deletion removes every record Music holds for you and then closes your sign-in; it cannot be undone, and it affects Music only — your other Assist With sites are separate accounts.
If you delete your sign-in through the identity provider instead, Music is notified and removes your records too, so closing the account by either route leaves nothing behind. You can also reach us through Assist With Life support with any question about your data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA.
