Lo-fi centered on warm guitar — clean electric, nylon or acoustic loops and bossa-nova-tinged riffs over soft, dusty drums at 75–90 BPM, with vinyl crackle and mellow bass. History
Guitar-forward lo-fi is strongly associated with Chillhop producers like Morocco's Saib, whose bossa- and jazz-guitar sampling defined a warm, tropical corner of the scene, and with French producer L'indécis and others who leaned on guitar loops. It draws on bossa nova, soul and jazz-guitar samples and slots into the same study and chill playlists as the rest of chillhop. The lane grew through the late-2010s streaming boom as a sunnier, more organic alternative to piano and rain lo-fi.
